San Jose de las Lajas

San Jose de las Lajas, is located in the central part of the Havana province of Cuba, and includes a livestock and industrial area of national importance.  San Jose de las Lajas Its northern border is the province of Havana City and the municipality of Jaruco, on the south Batabano, Melena del Sur and Guines and west and Quivican Bejucal.

At the heart of San Jose de las Lajas, mercedes Manuel Duarte on February 15th 1698, built a chapel on the way from Havana to Guinesen.  In 1788, the rising population increased to about 591 village residents, and they built a cemetery.  In 1805 the church was erected in Tenure of Managua, and dedicated to San Jose.  It also created an office of rent administration, a post, which was funded by the municipality of Havana, and two elementary schools, one for boys and one for girls.

The people and institutions continued to increase until an important event strongly influenced the rise of the whole region and in 1854, the construction of the road from Havana to San Jose was completed.
